The Karamoja region in Uganda is considered one of the poorest places on earth. Extreme poverty is rampant and the residents have, for years, suffered from dry spells, drought, conflicts, unemployment and so much more. In 2017, Innovation:Africa, an Israeli non-profit organization that brings Israeli solar, water and agricultural technologies to rural African villages, discovered a number of villages in the Karamoja district. When the IA team arrived in Karamoja, they did not expect to find what they saw.

Wheelchairs of Hope - An Affordable Wheelchair For Children With Disabilities

After working many years for Keter, an Israeli plastic company, Pablo Kaplan decided to follow his dream and use his knowledge of the industry to create an affordable and innovative wheelchair for Children with Disabilities in developing countries. Today, there are over 7 million children with disabilities who do not have access to mobility. The main reason is that wheelchairs for children are too expensive and beyond financial reach for families in developing areas.
